Gamma Scientific in finals for another Sapphire Award

Tonight, aboard the USS Midway in San Diego, Gamma Scientific will be among the finalists in the Solid State Lighting Enabling Technologies and Test category at this year’s Sapphire Awards for their 940 LED-200 Series Goniometer.

The 940 LED-200 Series Goniometer is optimised for the precise measurements of angle dependent spatial radiation properties of LEDs and small luminaires. It can accommodate sample sizes up to 200 mm in diameter, and can be combined with a Gamma Scientific Spectroradiometer or UDT Series photometer.

With a spectroradiometer, the goniometer can measure luminous flux, colour coordinates and CRI; while a photometer connected goniometer can provide fast measurements of spatial light distribution.

Applications

  • Rapid, precise characterisation of of spatial light distribution
  • Accurate measurement of LED luminaires, lamps and modules
  • Models optimised for specific sample sizes
  • Conform with CIE, DIN and IES standards

New Thermal Management Systems for HOLOEYE SLMs

HOLOEYE have engineered special thermal management systems for their PLUTO and GAEA Spatial Light Modulator for use in situations requiring temperature control, such as an application involving a high power laser or where temperature fluctuations colud affect results.

The TMS 001 electrically cools or heats an SLM that is in contact with a Peltier element and passive heat sink, while the TMS 002 is actively temperature controlled by water.

HOLOEYE’s TMS configuration software runs on a PC and communicates with the device. This simple to use software automatically recognises which model of TMS is being used and allows you to set up a target temperature to maintain the SLM at. It will also log data and display it in real time graphically. The temperature of the SLM can be maintained at ambient, or above or below it.

For more information, please contact us or visit our HOLOEYE TMS page.

Tomorrow, Laser Focus World has a webinar on robotic AR/VR/MR metrology – register now!

For near-eye displays to reliably meet performance standards and ensure high levels of user ‘immersion’, there is a need for manufacturers to quantitatively characterise their products in research, product development and production quality assurance. However, proper display metrology that correlates to the human eye perception is very difficult to achieve.
In this new webinar from Laser Focus World, Richard l. Austin and Sonika Obheroi will explain how the Gamma Scientific NED-LMD systems make these measurements routine.
Gamma Scientific offer the world’s first ‘robotic eye’ high resolution goniometric system to completely characterise near-eye displays by truly emulating the human eye and conforming to the latest standards being developed by IEC and SID.

IRIS is the new option for Gamma Scientific’s RS-7 LED Light Sources

Gamma Scientific has just announced the release of their RS‐7 IRIS option that allows easy adjustment of the light source’s output intensity.

This new enhancement for the SpectralLED® family of uniform intensity tunable light sources considerably increases the dynamic range of the light source. It is particularly useful for irradiance testing and characterisation of bare sensors.

The stepper motor controlled iris provides a variable output aperture which is fully integrated into the light source architecture. Available for both the visible and SWIR output models, the standard RS‐7 firmware includes aperture control and additional API commands.

About the SpectralLED®

The RS‐7 base platform incorporates the latest LED technology available. The RS‐7 VIS series contains 35 discrete wavelength LEDs, delivering a nearly continuous spectrum from 380 to 1000 nm. This allows for an unprecedented colour gamut and applications otherwise impossible for traditional halogen or LED light sources.

The SpectralLED® SWIR series employs LEDs at 9 discrete wavelengths from 900 to 1700 nm in the short‐wave infrared portion of the spectrum, providing a fully programmable spectra with highly uniform and stable output.

The standard configuration incorporates a controller and all software for full spectral calibration with spectral fitting, preset storage and real‐time optical feedback in a variety of measurement units.

USB drivers for Windows, OSX and Linux platforms are included, and external interface and control can be easily achieved via simple ASCII commands.  Custom configurations are also available.  For more information, please contact us or visit: https://www.elliotscientific.com/Gamma-Scientific-Light-Sources

Portable spectroradiometers from Gamma Scientific updated

Gamma Scientific’s new GS-1160 handheld spectroradiometers are stand-alone instruments designed for lighting installers, designers and engineers who require accurate, low cost spectral measurements such as:

  • Colour & Chromaticity
  • Gamma & White balance
  • Flicker & Uniformity
  • Luminance, CRI & Delta UV
  • Spectral power distribution
  • Peak & Dominant wavelength
  • Excitation purity

The Gamma Scientific handheld GS-1160 uses a CMOS linear image sensor, covering the wavelength range from 380 to 780 nm in 1 nm steps.

The instrument offers integration times from under 0.0001 to 5 seconds and delivers the spectral data via an onboard colour graphical display. This data can also be stored on an SD card, making it ideal for the portable spectral evaluation of LEDs, OLEDs and Quantum Dot displays.

The GS-1160B is the desktop version of the above. It features all the same measurement functions, but no display, and outputs the captured data via USB or RS-232 to a PC.
