Busy month for Optical Tweezers people

It’s been a busy month so far for our Optical Tweezers & Laser Trapping group, with over 50 research papers brought to the attention of the 500 plus members of the group on LinkedIn.

Meanwhile, it’s day 3 of the Optical Tweezers and Optical Manipulation conference (OTOM XV) taking place during SPIE’s Optics + Photonics conference and exhibition in San Diego.

Sessions and topics covered by leading researchers from around the world during this conference will include: Holography, Statistics, Detectors, Reactive Optical Matter, Optopfluidics, Microheology, Plasmonics, Micro-mechanics and more.

Economic laser trapping is made possible with Elliot Scientific Optical Tweezers

Optical Tweezers have been around for a long time. Over 40 years have passed since Arthur Ashkin and his colleagues described the single-beam gradient force trap and sparked a realisation in many scientists that this novel instrument would be a powerful tool for use in the course of their research. However, the costs and complexities of building Optical Tweezers were often prohibitive.

Optical Tweezers Brochure 2016With the development of easy to use ‘straight out of the box’ systems by Elliot Scientific, Optical Tweezers have come down from the heights of esoteric research and can be found in many labs around the world. Real experiments carried out in one such lab can be found here.

Download our Optical Tweezers Brochure. It describes all the systems we offer; from open architecture kits to complete computer-controlled multiple spot trapping systems with force detection and more, or contact us to discuss details.

December 2017 Newsletter Out Now

December 2017 NewsletterThe Elliot Scientific December 2017 newsletter is now available: In this issue we examine the economic’s of laser trapping with Elliot Scientific Optical Tweezers, look at a hot performer from Neoptix – The NOMAD-Touch fibre-optic thermometer, see a video of how the DEMCON|kryoz CryoLab can measure Seebeck coefficients, and get the measure of the superior pitch adjuster screw sets from Kozak Micro

Green lasers from IPG Photonics aid science and medical research

IPG Photonics makes a number of fibre laser systems available specifically to the research community.

CW Green Fibre Lasers
A variety of science and medical research applications can benefit from a green laser and IPG’s GLR series of single-mode, single-frequency, linearly polarised continuous wave (CW) 532 nm fibre lasers with output powers up to 30 W are ideal for these purposes.

  • Diagnostics or particle imaging
  • Holography & interferometry
  • Laser trapping & pumping
  • Velocimetry & flow visualisation

These highly efficient and reliable lasers feature a super-compact lightweight optical head connected to an air-cooled rack-mounted main laser console. The all-fibre construction allows for full range adjustment of output power without changes in power stability or beam mode parameters.

For more information about these or other lasers IPG offers through Elliot Scientific, please contact us.

Laser World of Photonics next week – Automated Alignment, Optical Tweezers, Flexure Stages and more

E1100_1001Messe München will be hosting next week’s Laser World of Photonics exhibition and conference from June 26th for 4 days, and Elliot Scientific will be on Stand 232 in Hall B3.

We will be showing our new DAli 3 Device Automatic Alignment Systems with USB interface, demonstrating live particle trapping using our popular Optical Tweezers system, and giving visitors the opportunity to experience first-hand the quality and precision of our Elliot|Martock range.Laser Tweezer System for Optical Trapping So come and see XYZ Flexure Stages, smooth miniature positioning slides, and more!

Our extensive portfolio of precision opto-mechanical components, custom design solutions, and a myriad other products that we distribute in the UK and Ireland can also be discussed with our knowledgeable and friendly team.

Mad City LAbs and Prizmatix components we on show at the recent Photonex event held in Coventry

Mad City Labs and Prizmatix components were on show at the recent Photonex event held in Coventry

Tomorrow, October 20th, Elliot Scientific is exhibiting at the annual Oxford Bioimaging Festival held in St John’s College.

The aim of the day is to share the breadth of the imaging expertise within the area’s imaging community by bringing together as many of Oxford’s imaging scientists and clinicians as possible, and showcasing the broad range of scientific research being undertaken in Oxford.

Mad City Labs nanopositioners and Prizmatix LED lightsources for optogenetics will be among the products we will be demonstrating for the life sciences. We will also be available to discuss the opportunities our advanced Optical Tweezers offer to researchers.

Registration is free to members of Oxford University and its institutional and NHS collaborators.
