INTERMAG is the IEEE’s premier conference on applied magnetics and information storage technologies, covering diverse topics such as magnets and magnetic materials, microscopy and the life sciences, motors, transformers and more.

Lake Shore’s 7400 Vibrating Sample Magnetometer is the most sensitive available today

VSM_SQLake Shore’s Vibrating Sample Magnetometer systems (VSM) can measure all types of magnetic materials in bulk, powder, thin film, single crystal, and liquid form, and the latest 7400 series Vibrating Sample Magnetometer is the most sensitive VSM available today.

This VSM features a noise floor of 1 x 10-7 emu at 10 seconds/point sampling, 4 x 10-7 emu at 1 second per point and 7.5 x 10-7 emu at 0.1 seconds per point. In addition to providing the lowest noise floor, the 7400’s patented technology leads to a stability of 0.05% per day which surpasses the stability of any other commercial VSM.

Under full software automation it can measure and record hysteresis M(H) loops, torque curves, isothermal and DC demagnetisation remanence curves, and temperature dependent magnetic properties.

Models based on variable gap 4″, 7″ and 10″ electromagnets are available, providing field strengths to above 3 T. While variable gap magnets allow for easy reconfiguration of the magnet gap to accommodate large samples of up to 1″.

ICE Box™: Integrated Control Electronics from Vescent Photonics

ICE_Angle_1-371x264Vescent Photonics has introduced ICE, a compact suite of digitally controlled electronics that will precisely drive and stabilise a broad range of semiconductor lasers and associated photonics tools.

The ICE system is based on the same high-performance D2 Series electronics that have established Vescent Photonics as the leader in laser control and stabilisation. It is fully compatible with all Vescent D2 modules and can be used to drive and control a complete stabilised-laser system; overseeing frequency and temperature, offset lock DBR, DFB, or External Cavity lasers.

Each ICE control board is commanded via a USB Virtual Communication Port programmed in a language such as LabVIEW™, MATLAB™, Python, Java, et al. An intuitive GUI can also be used to issue commands and control the experiment or, if installed in the ‘ICE Box’- a chassis that provides power and interface connections – a front-panel control is included.

New Probe Stations catalogue from Lake Shore now in stock

ProbeCatalog2013_CoverLake Shore has released a new printed catalogue covering their expanded range of cryogenic/cryogen-free and vacuum micro-manipulated Probe Stations for testing the electronic and magneto-transport properties of chips, wafers, and packaged devices.

The 10 systems covered feature variable temperature operation, from 1.6 K to 675 K depending on model, and can accommodate up 4″ wafers with up to 6 probes, again depending on model chosen.

Probes are available for use with signals ranging from DC to 67 GHz, and a combination of both low and high frequency probes can be supplied with a single system.

Additionally, these systems can be configured with horizontal or vertical field superconducting magnets, high-resolution microscopes, and CCD cameras for precision positioning of the probe tips on the wafer or device under test.

Lake Shore launch CVT Probe Tips

CVT_tipContinuously Variable Temperature (CVT) probe tips are a new design from Lake Shore Cryotronics that enable uninterrupted or unattended variable temperature measurements without the need to raise the DC/RF probe off the sample between major temperature excursions.

Fully compatible with current and previous models of Lake Shore Cryogenic Probe Stations, the integrated flexible section compensates for the thermal expansion that occurs in the probe arm when the sample stage temperature is changed. With non-CVT tips, this can result in a probe movement of approximately 500 µm between room temperature and 4 K; with CVT probe tips, this movement is eliminated.

The CVT probe tips are currently available in tungsten – with tip radius options of 10 µm and 25 µm, and beryllium copper – with a tip radius of 25 µm.

Lake Shore to launch THz Materials Characterisation System and upgrade the CRX-VF Probe Station

Lake Shore Cryotronics have announced a THz technology system that will provide a contactless, fully integrated solution for exploring the electronic, magnetic, and chemical properties of materials such as:

  • Antiferromagnetic resonances: important to spin-based computing
  • Carrier scattering time in semiconductors: important to development of high speed electronics
  • Vibrational resonances in molecular solids: important to chemical identification and research in organic electronic and magnetic materials

CRX-VF Cryogenic Probe Station gets an upgrade 

Lake Shore’s Model CRX-VF cryogenic probe station now features:

  • Increased maximum magnetic field: Up from ±2.25 to ±2.5 T
  • Improved vacuum performance: < 5 × 10-7 Torr is now an option for customers whose applications require lower base pressures or less chance of contamination
  • Improved magnetic field at high temperatures: ±2 T from 10 to 400 K and up to ±1 T from 400 to 500 K. Previously, only ±0.5 T was possible above 400 K and no magnetic field was possible above 450 K at all

Ideal for measuring electrical, electro-optical, parametric, high Z, and Hall effect, as well as DC, RF, and microwave properties of materials and test devices, the CRX-VF is widely used to measure nanoscale electronics, quantum wires and dots, semiconductors, and spintronic devices.
